It\u2019s been a few days since the first round of vaccinations in the intervention arm of the IMVACS project here in Burkina Faso…and what a week it was!

From the 24th to the 27th of July, the dusty village paths of Bouss\u00e9 were buzzing with activity, as 55 dedicated SMC teams fanned out across the district, going door-to-door to deliver vaccines directly to children in their homes.

Unlike in Mali, where caregivers this year bring their children to fixed vaccination sites, the intervention strategy here in Burkina Faso takes a different route \u2014 staying aligned with the typical approach of SMC delivery.

Each team was easily identifiable: white vests proudly worn under the bright sun, emblazoned with the familiar logos of the Ministry of Health, the Programme National de Lutte contre le Paludisme (PNLP), and other institutions committed to the fight against malaria.
Each team was accompanied by two IMVACS assistant nurses who not only administered the vaccines but also carefully collected field data, ensuring that every detail was accurately recorded.

Since early morning, the arrival of the teams drew everyone’s attention: children peeked out curiously from the courtyards, parents watched with interest, and a shared atmosphere of participation and collaboration could be felt throughout the villages.

And we\u2019re not done yet.
The second round of vaccination in the intervention arm here in this country is just around the corner \u2014 scheduled for August 21st to 24th. The white vests will return, bringing with them another wave of protection, one household at a time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
