It’s a wrap!
For this year, the IMVACS team has successfully completed all four rounds of R-21 vaccine administration — in Mali from October 9th to 13th, and in Burkina Faso from October 16th to 19th.
Next stop: the booster dose in 2026.

Exhausted yet proud, health workers, field teams, and caregivers gathered under the generous shade of mango and neem trees… the open-air clinics that have become the heart of this research implementation.

In both countries, the scenes tell a story of community and resilience:
mothers patiently waiting with their children wrapped in bright and colorful fabrics; little ones dozing off on their mothers’ laps after their final injection; laughter and conversation filling the air as the staff record the last names and pack up the supplies.

Each vaccination site, whether outside a small remote village house in Burkina Faso or beneath the wide Mali sky, echoes the same feeling — a quiet joy, a palpable sense of shared achievement.

The motorcycles and bicycles resting against tree trunks, the carefully stacked cool boxes, and the gentle murmur of caregivers comforting their children all mark the end of a long journey.

As the final doses are delivered and the data checked one last time, the IMVACS team, across Mali and Burkina Faso, takes a deep breath.

The season ends, and hope and expectations grow for the next chapter in 2026.
